Two divers from the Broward County Sheriff's Dive team
“The video was taken during one of our monthly training exercises. This exercise was our surface supplied air training module.
All our divers rotate through Air Panel Operator, Tender, and Diver Positions as part of the training.
To make it interesting for our divers, and foster a little friendly competition, we gave the divers a timed exercise to complete while on the bottom at Port Everglades (Florida). After the diver arrived on the bottom (approx. 40′) a mesh bag containing two PVC flanges and bolts was lowered to the diver. The timer was started once the diver had the bag, and ended when the two flanges were assembled and returned to the bag.
The visibility at the port varies according to the tide, and movement of large ships. On that day the visibility on the bottom was approx. four feet. We processed the video back at our office after the training was completed using our LYYN T38, yeilding the results seen in the video.”
