Öresund bridge foundation inspection

June 15th, 2010 · No Comments ·

Öresundsbron, the bridge between Denmark and Sweden, may have improved the marine environment in the ten years since it was built, in stark contrast to the fears before its construction.

Researchers from Lund University have found increased fish activity around the bridge’s pillars, as well as plenty of other marine life, such as mussels.

It was feared the bridge would block the flow of oxygen-rich water from the North Sea into the Baltic, but the researchers say this isn’t the case.
