About the human vision system

IT'S ALL IN THE MIND OF THE BEHOLDER

Even though the human eye is the most advanced optical sensor, we still do not see what is on the retina. What we see is created in the brain as an interpretation of what is picked up by the eyes. The LYYN V.E.T. takes still images and video and reoptimizes them for the interpretation part of the visual system.

EOROFIGHTER TYPHOON HEAD MOUNTED DISPLAY

The Eurofighter Typhoon Helmet Mounted Display (HMD) System is one of the most complex systems in the world, providing flight reference data, and weapon aiming through the pilot’s visor.

The latest in HMD technology is represented by binocular Cathode Ray Tube (CRT) displays. These are generally wide field of view (up to 40°) and can present both complex symbology and also TV like images to the pilot.

Thus, by using Forward Looking Infra Red (FLIR) sensors an enhanced picture of the outside world can be presented to the Eurofighter Typhoon pilot. Combine these with images from night vision aids and head mounted image intensifier sensors and the HMD will ultimately provide the pilot with an ability to fly at night and in all weathers. HONDA COMPLETES DEVELOPMENT OF ASV-3 ADVANCED SAFETY VEHICLES

Honda ASV-3 vehicles are equipped with several new advanced safety technologies developed by Honda, including a system that uses cameras and radar to provide drivers with information on approaching vehicles and obstacles in the road.

The human brain exhibits a strong response to facial patterns, especially to the eyes and mouth. Honda's new FACE design for ASV-3 takes advantage of this to make motorcycles more noticeable to other motorists by modifying the front of the motorcycle so that it resembles a human face. This design significantly improves motorcycle visibility.

Other interesting features of the motorcycle are a rear view camera and a vision-based pedestrian detection system. Read more at the Honda site
